Aligned Minds Counselling

“Every child has their own special strengths. Sometimes we just need help to see them clearly. And remind them it’s okay to have big feelings like sadness, anger, or worry. All feelings are important, and they always pass, even when they feel strong.”

What is Therapy?

Therapy (also called counselling or psychotherapy) is a professional process where a trained mental health practitioner supports individuals to understand, manage, and improve their emotional, psychological, and behavioural well-being.

It provides a safe, confidential space to explore thoughts, feelings, experiences, and challenges. Through this process, clients can develop insight, build coping strategies, and work toward meaningful change in their lives.

Therapy can help with a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. It is also a space for personal growth, self-awareness, and improving overall well-being—even when no specific “problem” is present.

Different therapeutic approaches may be used depending on the client’s needs, but the overall goal is to support healing, resilience, and improved quality of life.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy -

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps individuals identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours. It supports emotional regulation, improves coping skills, and promotes healthier responses to stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative Therapy is a collaborative, non-pathologising approach that helps individuals separate themselves from their problems and re-author the stories they hold about their lives. It focuses on meaning-making, identity, and strengths, supporting people to create preferred and empowering life narratives.

Solution Focus Therapy

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is a brief, goal-oriented approach that focuses on clients’ strengths, resources, and future goals rather than problems. It helps individuals identify practical solutions, build on what is already working, and create positive, achievable change.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals accept difficult thoughts and feelings while committing to values-based actions. It promotes psychological flexibility, mindfulness, and meaningful living by reducing the struggle with internal experiences and increasing present-moment awareness.

My Approach

My approach is compassionate, client-centred, and trauma-informed, providing a safe and non-judgemental space for healing and growth. I work collaboratively with clients to explore their experiences, build on strengths, and support meaningful change.

I integrate evidence-based therapies including CBT, ACT, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, tailoring each session to meet individual needs and goals.

I am committed to supporting children, adolescents, adults, and the LGBTQI+ community with respect, inclusion, and care.
